Fishing in Mallacoota, Victoria

Mallacoota town, located 515km east of Melbourne is every angler's paradise. Almost all of Australia's fishing magazines would have some articles on Mallacoota town. I am finally here in Mallacoota town because of my work. The photo above shows the Mallacoota's estuary from my motel inn, at about 7:30am.
I have confirmed it ... it is bloody fantastic fishing in Mallacoota.

First night of fishing for me yielded none, although I caught one big tailor, but couldn't land it. Got a lot of nibbles though. My colleague managed to land 7 tailors (1 big and the rest were babies).

Second night was a different story, I landed 4 flatheads and 1 tailors. All were between 35 to 40cms long.
My colleagure only landed 2 small tilors at the last 15 mins. So you can imagine his frustration when he couldn't get any flatheads

And these were all done without baits, we all used soft plastic lures.
We all did the catch and release.
Looks like I will be investing in a portable car fridge very soon; to fillet and bringing it back home for dinner.
